Kenneth James Ledet, 68, a native of Terrebonne Parish and a resident of Houma died Friday, August 26, 2011 at Ochsner Foundation Hospital.
Visitation will be at Chauvin Funeral Home on Sunday evening, August 28th, from 6:00 to 9:00PM. Visitation on Monday , August 29th, will be from 9:00 to 11:00AM at Annunziata Church with Funeral Service at 11:00AM . Burial will be at St. Francis Cemetery #2.
Kenneth is survived by his wife, Hazel Smith Ledet, his mother Yvonne Henry Ledet, three sisters , Eurlie Ledet Williams and husband Bobby, Gayle Ledet, and Cathy Ledet Kohmann. Nieces and nephews, Dena Williams Szaroleta and husband Mike, Michelle Williams Richard and husband Brian, and Dr. Nicole Williams McKee and husband Christian, Lisa Lirette Gehring and husband Christopher, Troy Lirette and wife, Melissa, Lee Kohmann and wife Misti, Jennifer Kohmann Toscano and husband Mauricio, his two great nephews and nieces, Sarah, Emily, Malorie, Kari, Mylah, Matthew, Jacob, and Olivia. Kenneth was also survived by his wife’s children. Claude Renegar and wife Wendy, Kelly and wife Jance and Keith Renegar. Three grandsons, three great grandsons and two great granddaughters.
He was preceded in death by his father, Druby J. Ledet and sister, Carolyn Ledet Lirette. His grandparents, Paul J. Henry and Rosana N. Henry and Willis Ledet and Olivia Dupre Ledet.
Kenneth was a former owner of L & H Electric until retirement.
Kenneth was a 29 year member of the Elks Association of Louisiana serving in many offices during his membership years with the Elks. Kenneth served as past Exalted Ruler, District Deputy, and was currently serving as Vice President of the Louisiana Elks Association. He was also serving as the Secretary of the BPOE #1193 of the Elks and has held this position for the past 13 years. He faithfully worked for every charitable endeavor of the elks. Most Friday evenings you could find Kenneth and Hazel working the Elks Bingo to help support Elks Charities. Kenneth was a great cook and cooked and served great Cajun foods at the Elks State Conventions each year.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Elks charities or to help defray medical costs.
