Wayne’s fight against cancer ended on Friday, February 12, 2021 as he peacefully passed away at Our Lady of Lourdes with his son, Josh Richard, by his side. His laugh and mischievous smile will be missed dearly.
Wayne was born to Edward & Dolly Boquet Richard in Houma, Louisiana. He was the youngest of 5 children. He attended Terrebonne High School & graduated in 1967. In the spring of 1982, he married Lozia Plaisance & they had one son, Josh Richard – born in 1983. He was then hired by Houma Creosote Materials where he worked 32 years before retiring.
Wayne was an avid reader and although no one ever counted, it could easily be said he read thousands of books – all murder mysteries. He enjoyed riding his bike and spending time with his grandchildren. He could often be found rocking on his front porch and if his front door was open everyone was welcomed to stop and share a laugh or two.
Wayne is survived by his former wife Lozia & their son Josh Richard. He is also survived by his brothers Ed “Ricky” Richard & Daniel Boquet & his sister Meryl Aycock. Wayne has two grandchildren – Bailey & Harper Richard and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents Edward and Dolly Boquet Richard; sisters Dorothy “Dot” Marcel & June Fischer.
Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the visitation in Chapel Dauphine of Chauvin Funeral Home on Friday, February 19th from 6pm – 9pm. Visitation will resume on Saturday, February 20, 2021 at Chauvin Funeral Home from 9:30am – 10:30am followed by a mass at St. Gregory Catholic Church at 11am.
