Wanda Dupre

It is with heavy hearts that the family announce the passing of Wanda Duplantis Dupre, 77, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. Born in Houma at Sunrise Plantation on November 15, 1946, Wanda dedicated her life to others, always doing something for someone.

Family and friends of the family are invited to a funeral vigil on Thursday, October 10, 2024 at St. Louis Catholic Church in Bayou Blue, LA from 10:00am until Mass time. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow on Thursday, October 10, 2024 at 11:00am at St. Louis Church with burial taking place in St. Eloi Cemetery in Theriot, LA.

Wanda is survived by her husband of 58 years, Michael Leland Dupre, and her children Rhyan Michael Dupre (Bobbi), Kevin Paul Dupre (Wendy), Lydia Marguerite Dupre LaGrange (Mickey), and David James Dupre (Tiffany), eight grand-children, and six great grandchildren. She is also survived by brothers Kenneth, Ralph, Wayne, Donald, and David, and sisters Barbara Jordan and Gayle Yancey.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Sidney J. Duplantis Sr. and Lydie Champagne Duplantis, by her brothers Sidney J. Duplantis Jr., James Buvens Duplantis, and sisters Susan Elizabeth Duplantis and Little Francis Duplantis, who died at birth.

Wanda was a graduate of St. Francis de Sales girl's school, class of 1964. She worked in the clerical field for many years before opening a child day care for 15 years. She was a devout catholic who lived her kindness and generosity through her faith. She enjoyed the simpler things in life, spending time with family and friends, and watching her all time favorite programs, Little House on the Prairie and The Waltons.

Wanda's family would like to give invaluable praise to her entire medical team with Ochsner Medical Center in Jefferson, especially those in the Palliative Care and Hospice Unit, for their exceptional care and patience with Wanda, and grief guidance for the family.
