Walter John Eschete, age 96, passed away at Terrebonne General Medical Center on Tuesday, April 3, 2018 surrounded by his loving family. Walter was a native of Little Caillou and a resident of Houma.
Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the visitation at Annunziata Catholic Church on Thursday, April 5, 2018 beginning at 9:00 a.m. until the Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow in Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary Cemetery.
Walter is survived by his loving wife of 68 years, Mary Fazzio Eschete; son, Carey Eschete and companion Susan Griffin; daughter, Darlene Eschete Hodgson and husband Nigel; grandchildren, Alicia Eschete Klingman and husband David, Jacob Eschete, Trisha Hodgson Melancon and husband Christopher, Michelle Hodgson; great-grandchildren, Alexander and Caroline Klingman, Madelyn and Carson Melancon.
Walter is preceded in death by his parents, Clovis and Edna Duplantis Eschete; sister, Delta Eschete LeBoeuf.
Walter was loving, kind, gentle, and hard-working. He spent a lifetime loving his family and enjoyed spending every minute with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Most of all he adored and loved his wife. He was a great gardener and enjoyed giving vegetables to his family and friends. Walter was a master carpenter, he built many homes in Terrebonne Parish over the years. Walter proudly served our country in the U.S. Navy in World War II.
