Virginia Molaison

August 22, 1923 — December 23, 2020

Virginia Ruiz Molaison, Age 97, a native of Algiers, Louisiana, and longtime resident of Houma, died December 23, 2020.

Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the visitation in Chapel Dauphine of Chauvin Funeral Home on Wednesday, December 30, 2020 with visiting beginning at 9:00 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. Recitation of the Rosary will begin at 10:30 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial will follow at St. Bernadette Catholic Church at 12:00 p.m., with burial to follow in St. Francis de Sales Cemetery No. 2.

She is survived by her five sons, Richard Molaison, Jr. and wife, Barbara, of Kingwood, Texas, Craig Molaison of Lafayette, Roger Molaison and wife, Brandi, of Onalaska, Texas, John Molaison and wife, Chris, of Knoxville, Tennessee and Bryan Molaison and wife, Kathleen of Lafayette; 15 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and close friends, Reginald and Rebecca Landry, Richard and Peggy Jackson, Pam Kelley and Bridget Enoch.

She was preceded in death by Richard Molaison, Sr., her husband of 61 years, her parents, John and Angela Lege Ruiz, and brothers, A.J. and Carol Ruiz.

She graduated from Martin Behrman High School in 1940.  She attended Tulane University and Nicholls State University as well as The University of North Carolina Southeastern Management Institute.

Virginia served the community in many volunteer capacities.  She served as a Silver Haired Legislator for Terrebonne Council on Aging for four years.  Virginia was Arbor Day Chairman for four years for Broadmoor Garden Club and served as Chairman of Six Flags over Broadmoor Fair.

On her 95th birthday, Virginia received a commendation from Terrebonne Parish denoting that day, August 22, as Virginia Molaison day in Houma/Terrebonne.

Virginia lived in Houma for over 65 years and was a longtime member of St. Bernadette Catholic Church.  She loved living in the Houma/St. Bernadette Christian community.
