Vernon Tandy Webb, 73, died peacefully on November 4, 2017, after an 18-month battle with lung cancer. He was born in New Orleans, but was a life-long resident of Houma. A memorial mass will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, November 11, at St. Matthew’s Episcopal Church in Houma, with visitation from 9:00AM until service time. Tandy is survived by his wife, Sybil Dupre' Webb, daughter, Tandi Webb Dillon, and son, Matthew V. Webb (wife Stacy). “Poppa” will be sadly missed by his four grandchildren: Tyler Dillon, Austin Dillon, Madison Webb, and Taylor Webb. He was preceded in death by his parents: Nita Vernon Webb and Thomas J. Webb, Sr. and a brother Thomas (Jack) Webb, Jr. Tandy was a parishioner of St. Matthew’s and enjoyed his many years as a local business owner and then as a semi-retired salesman for FORCE Industries. His hobbies were always family-based: camping, dirt bike riding, endless hours behind the Bar-B-Q pit, and lots of vacations which included many close friends he considered to be his extended family. For over two decades, “Coach Tandy” coached HARC football, and embraced each young player as someone special. The family wishes to thank the doctors and staff at Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center at TGMC along with Journey Hospice for their excellent care. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that any donations be made in his memory to St. Matthew’s Church or Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center. Chauvin Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
