Valmore "V.J." Duplantis, Jr.

March 12, 1922 — April 24, 2017

V.J., age 95 passed on Monday, April 24, 2017. He was a native of Bayou Dularge and a resident of Houma, LA. V.J. now rest in the arms of his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and is now reunited with his loving wife, Myrtha Duplantis. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the visitation on Saturday, April 29, 2017 at St. Louis Catholic Church beginning at 9:00 a.m. until the Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow in the Church Cemetery. V.J. was blessed with a beautiful family and proud to have lived to see five generations. He is survived by his son, Lance Duplantis, Sr. and wife Betty L. Duplantis; daughter, Lana Thibodaux and husband Larry, Sr.; grandchildren, Larry Thibodaux, Jr., Sean Thibodaux, Tammy Welter, Lance Duplantis, Jr., Myrtha Hash, David Duplantis, and Dennis Duplantis, Jr. and their mother, Lillian Lloyd Duplantis; fourteen great-grandchildren and thirteen great-great-grandchildren. V.J. is preceded in death by his wife over 75 years, Myrtha Duplantis; father, Valmore Sr.; mother, Cora Babin Duplantis; son, Dennis Duplantis; one grandchild and one great-grandchild; brothers, Abby, Ivy Duplantis and Sidney Duplantis; sisters, Agnes Hebert, Mary Matherne, Lou Leonard, Doris Colwart, Jenny Bergeron. V.J. was a very blessed man, he was born into a simple life and appreciated life as it was. V.J. fell in love and married Myrtha and together started a beautiful family. He was a great-provider and worked at Texaco for many years until his retirement, he was known at work as Dup. He loved to cook and have family gatherings especially playing the accordion and watching his grandchildren dance, whom he loved dearly. He loved to cook Jambalaya, fried fish, or sauce picante. He was so talented in many ways and very social. He proudly served our Country in the U.S. Army and is a proud Veteran. V.J. will be dearly missed by his friends and family. Chauvin Funeral Home is honored to serve the Duplantis family.
