Ulysses “Connie” Pierre Melancon Jr., 98, a native of Napoleonville and resident of Houma died peacefully at his home on December 21, 2021. He was a long time parishioner of St. Louis Catholic Church on Bayou Blue where he taught catechism and served as a Eucharistic minister. Before retiring to his home on Bayou Blue, he taught at both Nicholls State University and Vandebilt Catholic High School. He served as a U.S. Navy pilot in WWII and was a fierce LSU football fan.
“Connie,” as he was widely known, is survived by his children, Steve, Matt, Amy, Tom, and John, twelve grandchildren, and ten great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Hazel Theriot, his parents, Ulysses Pierre Melancon Sr. and Genevieve Esteve and his siblings, Wilbert and Lois Melancon.
The family wishes to thank the staff of Terrebonne General Health System and Notre Dame Hospice for their compassionate care and thoughtful service.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, December 28, at 11:00 AM at St. Louis Catholic Church. Visitation prior to services will begin at 9:30 for public. A private burial will follow.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Heart Association or the American Cancer Society.
