Susan came from a long line of independent women. She was a smart, strong and caring individual who was very supportive of women’s rights. She graduated from LSU with a Bachelor’s degree in psychology and earned her Masters from Nicholls State University. She was a founding member of the domestic violence program in Terrebonne Parish which later became the Haven. She also formed a group called “Kings Kids” for the youth in town to praise God. She was a school psychologist and was very influential in the lives of troubled children. She was a counselor who touched the lives of many she met. People flocked to her for advice and she was always willing to give it. She was a wonderful cook, seamstress, and porcelain artist as well as a gardener. She loved her grandchildren and retired early to help with their care. Her loved ones call her “SuSu” and she will be dearly missed by many.
In lieu of flowers please consider a donation to The Haven, PO Box 1222, Houma, LA 70360 or CASA of Terrebonne, 402 Canal St, Houma, LA 70360. The family would like to thank Dr. Dicky Haydel, Dr. Scott Haydel, and Haydel Hospice for the exceptional care. A special thank you to Ellery Domangue for her many years of care and companionship.
