Sue Barker

August 27, 1925 — August 8, 2018

Sue Robichaux Barker, age 92, passed away surrounded by her loving family on Wednesday, August 8, 2018 at 11:17 pm. She was a native of Montegut and a resident of Houma.

A private Mass of Christian Burial was held Monday, August 13, 2018 at St. Anthony Catholic Church with burial in St. Francis #2 Cemetery.

Sue is survived by her children, Kenneth James Barker, Sr. and wife, Lyla, and Mary Sue DeGeneres and husband, Sam; stepchildren, Richard H. Barker III and wife, Charlene, Jeannie B. McKey, and Patricia B. Carey and husband, Bob; sister, Beatrice B. Cowart; 21 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

Sue is preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Richard Hobbs Barker, Jr.; stepdaughter, Dr. Ann Barker; parents, Aurlie and Alice Lapeyrouse Robichaux; sister, Mildred R. Pellegrin Simoneaux.

Sue was a parishioner of St. Anthony Catholic Church. She was a generous donor to the Catholic Church and the Maronite Sisters. She was a founding member of the first TGMC Volunteer Auxiliary and was responsible for the first gift shop at TGMC. She was an avid golfer and was a member of the Houma Golf Club and Ellendale Golf Club.   She enjoyed fishing, being at the beach, traveling with her husband, and being with family. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her. The family would like to express their gratitude to the Suites of Sugar Mill Point staff, Dr. Dickie Haydel, Haydel Hospice, and her caregivers and sitters for their love, care and devotion to her. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made   to EWTN, St. Jude Children’s Hospital, or charity of your choice.
