Steven Wayne McCann

Steven Wayne McCann, 70, a native of Rose, LA and a longtime resident of Houma, LA, passed away suddenly on April 19, 2023.

A memorial service will be held in his honor on Saturday, April 29, 2023, from 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. at Chauvin Funeral Home. 

Steven is survived by his wife, Cindy McCann; sons, Wes McCann (Ann) and Andy McCann (Emily); daughter, Rebecca McCann; one grandchild, Stephanie McCann; father, James McCann; and brother, Bud McCann. 

Steve McCann will be remembered by almost all who knew him as a kind and generous soul. He went out of his way to take care of everyone but himself. His generosity was unbound by place or status. Whether you were his friend, a client, or the cashier at the local gas station, Steve was quick to extend every kindness.

As an accountant and financial advisor, he would sit down with anyone who walked through his door and provide them with any answers or advice that was needed. If you ever sat down with Steve, you would not only get loads of free help, but you would also be inundated with elaborate stories of history and politics and the back stories of how life affected your situation. He always tried to help people understand the world around them, the reasons for their situation, and why his advice was given. You would never leave his office without being educated and entertained by his conversation.

Steve loved and cared deeply for his family. He was quick to brag on his kids and their spouses. He coached baseball and soccer, attended track meets and football games, and cheered for their every success. He was always there to pick them up from failures and push them forward. He spent the last year and a half being the primary caregiver for Cindy as she struggles with Multiple Sclerosis. He was where he was needed most - taking care of his wife.
