Shirley Taylor Walker

Shirley Taylor Walker, 87, a native of White Castle and resident of Houma, died at 7:35 AM Friday, November 8, 2024. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the visitation at St. Bernadette Catholic Church in Houma on Wednesday, November 13, 2024 beginning at 9:00 AM until a mass of Christian burial at 11:00 AM with burial following at St. Francis de Sales #2 cemetery.

Shirley is survived by her son Thomas Walker and his wife Susan, daughters Jo Anne Walker Pitre and Nancy Walker Torbert, grandchildren Stephen Walker, Sarah Walker, John Pitre Jr., David Pitre, Maria Pitre, Emily Torbert Schexnayder, and Claire Torbert, great-grandchildren Eleanor, Harrison, Hudson, Emma, and Anna, as well as her brothers Otis Taylor and his wife Wanda and Jimmy Taylor and his wife Angie. She was preceded in death by her parents Otis H. Taylor Sr. and Josephine C. Guercio Taylor.

Shirley graduated from Hotel Dieu School of Nursing and worked as a CRNA at Terrebonne General for many years. She was a constant example of caring for her family, from doting on her many grandchildren to assisting her mother and aunts in their later years. She will be remembered for always putting others ahead of herself. Shirley was a faithful woman and a parishioner of St. Bernadette Catholic Church, where she regularly attended mass. She will be missed by many.
