Shirley Matherne

Shirley Mae Neal Matherne, 82, passed away peacefully this past Sunday, March 20, 2022, at 10:20am.  Shirley is a native and life long resident of Montegut, LA.

Family and friends of the family are invited to attend a visitation at Sacred Heart Church in Montegut, LA on Monday, March 28, 2022,  from 9:00am until service time. A Memorial Mass will follow at Sacred Heart Church beginning at 11:00am with inurnment to take place in the church cemetery.

Shirley is survived by her loving family, her children, Faye Breaux and companion Gary Blanchard, and Barry Matherne and wife Earline; brother, Lester Neal; grandchildren, Nicole Price and husband Jared, Christy Hebert and husband Bo, Tiffany Matherne and Mason Matherne and fiancé Brad Pennington; and great grandchildren, Brooke Price, Kolbi Price, Hunter Hebert, Cole Hebert, Ava Naquin, and Zoey Naquin; sister-in-law, Gloria Robinson.

Shirley is preceded in death by her husband, William Matherne Sr.; parents, James and Rita Matherne Neal; son, William “Dee” Matherne Jr.; sister, Jeannie Neal Matherne; grandchildren, Tonya Matherne, Kandi Naquin.

Shirley was a member of the Lions Club and enjoyed sewing, going to the casino, and meeting old friends and making new friends. Shirley loved her family and enjoyed spending time with them; most especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Shirley will be dearly missed by all her many family, friends and those she has met during her long life. She will never be forgotten; but always and forever loved.
