Sarah Eschete

Sarah Belanger Eschete, 94, passed away on Tuesday, February 7, 2023 at 5:27pm.  Sarah was a native and resident of Houma, LA.

Family and friends of the family are invited to attend a visitation at Chauvin Funeral Home on Monday, February 13, 2023, from 5:00pm until 9:00pm and visitation will continue on Tuesday, February 14, 2023, at Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Houma, LA from 9:00am until service time. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow visitation on Tuesday, February 14, 2023, Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary Church at 11:00am with burial to follow in the church cemetery.

Sarah is survived by her loving family; her sons, John Eschete (Phyllis), David Eschete (Janie), Lynn Eschete (Margaret), Ted Eschete (Susan); daughters, Ellen Allemand (Rodney), Jill Becnel (Ray), and Virginia Authement (Magnel “Tony”); daughter-in-law, Gloria Myers; and twenty-four grandchildren, and thirty-two great grandchildren.

Sarah is preceded in passing by her husband, Allen Anthony Eschete; parents, Hubert and Maude Eschete Belanger; son, Brian Eschete; daughters, Arleane Bergeron, and Shanna Tanner, brothers, Morris Belanger, Hewitt “Buck” Belanger, Gayden Belanger, Allen Belanger, Hubert “Bay” Belanger; sister, Mary Duet; grandchildren, John Eschete II, Andrew Eschete; and one great grandchild, Luke Crabtree.

Sarah was an active member of her church community, Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary Catholic Church.  She was an Honorary Member Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary Ladies Alter Society, was the Diocesan Service Award recipient and Parishioner of the Year, 2017.  She was a member of the Bourg Library Oral History Club, American Legion Post #31 Auxiliary,  and an avid baker and rodayer, and loved everyone “Big Big” and parishioner of Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary Catholic Church.
