Russel Thibodeaux, Sr.

Russel J. Thibodeaux, Sr., age 87, passed away on April 24, 2021. Born July 14, 1933, he was a native and lifetime resident of Houma, LA.

Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend a Military Ceremony at 10:30 a.m. followed by a Memorial Mass of Christian Burial at St. Bridgette Catholic Church on Monday, May 3, 2021 beginning at 11:00 a.m. with burial to follow in the church cemetery.

Russel is survived by his wife of 63 years, Rita (Jeannie) Breaux Thibodeaux; son, Russel “Rusty” Thibodeaux, Jr. and wife Penny; daughter, Robin Franco; grandchildren, Brandon Thibodeaux and Dustin Thibodeaux, and great granddaughter, Skye Thibodeaux.

Russel is preceded in death by his daughter, Rene J. Thibodeaux; parents, Abby Thibodeaux and Beaulah Guidry Thibodeaux; sisters, Hilda Thibodeaux Pitre, Marion Thibodeaux Rhodes, Margorie Lirette McMeel, and Dolores Lirette.

Russel was a dedicated father, grandfather, brother, and godfather to many. He served our great country as a Staff Sergeant in the United States Airforce. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, loved bowling, fishing, and spending time with his family and friends whose lives and hearts he touched.

The family would like to thank the nurses and doctors at Terrebonne General Medical Center, CIS, and The Oaks of Houma for the love and support they provided.
