Rubin John “Jerry Raines” Bergeron, 79, a native of Morgan City, LA and resident of Larose, LA passed away on February 24, 2020, at 10:54 AM.
Family and friends of the family are invited to attend visitation at Chauvin Funeral Home from 11:00 AM until service time on March 13, 2020. Ministry service will begin following visitation at 1:00 PM. Burial will be held privately by the family at a later date.
Rubin is survived by his wife, Florence Lovell Bergeron; children, Clark Bergeron and companion, Gayle F. Trosclair, Ginger Boudreaux and husband Norris, Gwen Pontif, and Dawn Walden and fiance Christian Lirette; siblings, Kim Allemand and wife Stephanie, Kevin Allemand and companion Deanna Cheraime, and Kerwin “Sunny” Schulze; Sharon Clements and husband Charles Clements, Rita Trosclair and many other brothers and sisters ; grandchildren, Natalie Lebouef, Clark Bergeron Jr., Tyler Bergeron, Amanda, Elizabeth, Samarra, Gregory, Joanie Bergeron, Kenneth Bergeron, Patrick and Kerrie Matherne, Allysa, Bryson, Maxson, Mylah, Keri Matherne, Patrich Matherne, and Riley Tucker; and ten great-grandchildren; step son, Randal Lirette.
Rubin is preceded in death by his mother, Ora Marie Bergeron; son-in-law, Johnny Pontiff; siblings, Erma, Rose, Mamie, Tina, Mary, Clyde.
Rubin was known throughout the music world as Jerry Raines and was a prominent musician in the Houma area and beyond for his style and artistry in the Swamp Pop music scene. His music and artistry included a repertoire of many hits throughout his lifetime and he was featured many a time in local new articles in the Houma area and beyond.
