Royce Paul Moore, age 85, passed away on Thursday, February 1, 2018 surrounded by his loving family at Terrebonne General Medical Center.
Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the visitation at Annunziata Catholic Church on Monday, February 5, 2018 beginning at 9:30 a.m. until the Mass of Christian Burial at 1:00 p.m. Burial will follow in Holy Rosary Cemetery.
Royce is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 66 years, Ophelia Hebert Moore; children, Tommy Moore and wife Emily, Timothy Moore and wife Amy, Sandra Zeringue and husband Kirk, Debbie Martinez and husband David, Cynthia Bertinot and husband Harvey; grandchildren, Jarrod Moore, Megan Pellegrin, Trisha Authement, Jason Moore, Ryan and Ross Zeringue, Dustin, Danielle, and Derrick Martinez, Meagan and Madison Bertinot; great-grandchildren, Preston and Gavin Moore, Ella Pellegrin, Hunter Authement, Kaitlin and Jasmine Moore, Josiah and Cullen Royce Zeringue, Jackson Martinez, Johnny and Grace Fonseca.
Royce is preceded in death by his parents, Willie and Stella Butcher Moore, great-grandson, Elliott Ryan Zeringue; brothers, Willie Moore Jr., Houston "Shine" Moore, Warren Moore, and Randolph Moore; sisters, Rose Lyons, Josephine "Tippy" Trahan, Audrey LeBlanc and Molly Ruiz.
Royce was born and reared on Southdown Plantation. He was a loving, kind, compassionate and caring man who never met a stranger. He was blessed to marry the love of his life Ophelia and married February 16, 1952. They were blessed with five beautiful children and extended their family with grand and great grandchildren. His family was most important and thoroughly enjoyed family gathering, vacations and watching the New Orleans Saints. Royce was an avid outdoorsman. He taught his children the basics of life and taught them how to be independent. Royce worked for Sunbeam Bread Company until his retirement after thirty years of service, he also worked for Terrebonne Parish Sheriff department until his second retirement after fourteen years of service. Royce proudly served our Country in the U.S. Army, he is a Korean War Veteran. Royce is now reunited with his parents and all his siblings. He now rests in the arms of his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
The family would like to thank all the caregivers especially “L”, Mindy, Sherry, Sheri, Cathy, Esther, June, and Laury for their love and compassion, Royce adored them for all their assistance. The family would also like to thank Terrebonne Home Health Care and Council on Aging for their care.
