Roy Joseph Tabor, age 87, passed away at his residence on Tuesday, March 06, 2018. He was a native of Chackbay and a longtime resident of Montegut.
Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the visitation at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Montegut on Thursday, March 8, 2018 beginning at 9:00 a.m. until the Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Roy is survived by his daughters, Patti Tabor, and Linda Couvillier and husband Carl; granddaughters, Dena Couvillier Pitre, Gena Sternberger and husband Dustin, Beth Couvillier and companion Woody Prosperie, Leann Couvillier; great-grandchildren, Emily, Seth, and Brandon Pitre, Grace Sternberger, Kali Prosperie, and Kennedy Blanchard and a new born on the way.
Roy is preceded in death by his wife Ida Mae Fields Tabor; parents, Wilson and Vanny Tabor; brother, Floyd Tabor, Sr.; great-grandchildren, Christian and Tristian Sternberger.
Roy was a great provider to his family. He worked for S. Coast Sugar Mill Company for many years, then worked for Main Iron Works. He then retired from the School Board after twelve years of service. Twenty years ago, Roy loved tending to his garden and blessed many of his friends and family with vegetables. Roy’s faith was very strong, he was a eucharistic minister, usher, and a member of the Holy Name Society. He was also a member of the American Legion in Montegut. Roy was a Korean Veteran and proudly served our country in the U.S. Marine. Corps.
