Roy Neil

June 17, 1932 — December 10, 2020

Roy Joseph Neil, 88, passed away on Thursday, December 10, 2020 at 6:10am.  Roy was a native and resident of Chauvin, LA.

Family and friends of the family are invited to attend visitation on Monday, December 14, 2020 from 4:00pm until 9:00pm and Tuesday, December 15, 2020 at Chauvin Funeral Home in Houma, LA from 9:00am until 11:00am. A Mass of Christian Burial will begin on Tuesday, December 15, 2020 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Chauvin, LA beginning at 12:00pm.  Burial will follow Mass in the church cemetery.

Roy is survived by his children, Michael Neil, Dianne Neil Romero and husband Walter Romero Jr., Nolan Roy Neil, Rodney Neil and wife Faith; sister, Dorothy Neil Bergeron; grandchildren, Jennifer Romero, Kevin Romero, Jonathon Romero, Charisma Neil, Sage Neil, Blake Neil; and five great grandchildren.

Roy is preceded in death by his loving wife, Janice Neil; parents, Nolan “Nollie” Neil and Doris Roddy Neil; brother, Roosevelt “Kie” Neil.

Roy enjoyed to work in his garden, fishing, trawling, and any activity in nature; most especially on water.  Roy was proud of being a life-time  nautical captain while working in the oil and gas industry.

Roy was honored for going above and beyond the call of duty for heroically piloting the tug boat “Apollo” and evacuating a Union Oil platform of its personnel and its equipment.  They gave their compliments for his bravery. He was also honored on other occasions for his bravery and dedication to the company and the crews he worked with during his career.

Roy will be greatly missed by his many family and friends.  He will live on in the sharing of their memories and he will forever be remembered and loved.
