Roy Howell Dutton, 83, passed away on Monday, December 6, 2021 at 1:15pm. Roy was a native of Hayden, AL and a resident of Houma, LA.
Family and friends are invited to a visitation on Sunday, December 12, 2021 at Chauvin Funeral Home from 5:00pm until 9:00pm and continue on Monday, December 13, 2021 at Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Houma, LA from 9:00am until service time. A Mass of Christian Burial will begin Monday, December 13, 2021 at 11:00am at Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary Catholic Church with internment following in the church cemetery.
Roy is survived by his wife of fifty-seven years, Diana “Gail” Pellegrin Dutton, daughter; Zina Dutton Dion and husband Munew, son; Wayne Dutton; grandsons; Dirk Dutton and wife Vanessa, Casey Dutton and wife Brittney and Dusty Dion and wife Lindsey, great grandchildren; Kayli, Krista, Addisyn, Hayden, Mason, Mya, Zayne, Alayna, Emma, and Baby Dutton, sisters; Betty Blackwood and Opal Carter, sisters-in-law; Yvonne Tregre, Caffie Pellegrin, Sonja Pellegrin, and Sandra Pellegrin, brothers-in-law; Jim Carter, Bruce “Beauty” Pellegrin Jr. and Brian Pellegrin, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Roy is preceded in death by his father; James “Albert” Dutton, his mother; Lettie Johnson Dutton, one son; “Roy Patrick” Dutton, Sister; Marie Dutton Nix, Father-in-law; Bruce Pellegrin Sr., mother-in-law; Wilma Duplantis Pellegrin, brothers-in-law; Ricky John Pellegrin, Welton Blackwood, and Jack Nix, sister-in-law; Brenda Pellegrin.
Roy was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend that will be dearly missed and lovingly remembered by all who were blessed to know him. He served his country over 20 years and served during the Vietnam War. He enjoyed fishing, gardening, barbecuing, and boiling seafood, but his greatest joy weas his family and friends.
His family would like to express their deepest gratitude to Dr. Scott Haydel, Dr. Matt Watkins, Dr. Haden Lafaye, Dr. Frederick Rau, Terrebonne Home Care, Terrebonne Council on Aging, The Medical Team, Heritage Manor, and St. Catherine’s Hospice.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, St. Jude, and American Cancer Society.
