Roxanne Jackson

October 24, 1950 — January 22, 2018

Roxanne Marie Hebert Jackson, age 67, a native & resident of Houma passed away surrounded by her loving family, on Jan. 22, 2018

Roxanne was a parishioner of St. Anthony Catholic Church in Bayou Black. Visitation will be held at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Bayou Black on Friday, Jan 26, 2018 beginning at 9:00 am – 11:00 am Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. A graveside service will be held at Holy Rosary cemetery at a later date.  

She is survived by her husband of 47 years, Darrell Jackson Sr. and her son Darrell Jackson Jr.; sisters, Penny Kangers and husband Ray, Tanya Cross; brothers, David Hebert and wife Melinda, and John Hebert and wife Theresa.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Dallas P. Hebert and Marie LeBoeuf Hebert and her brother-in-law John Cross.

Roxanne was born on Oct. 24, 1950 in Houma. She attended Holy Rosary school and graduated from South Terrebonne High School in 1968. She was on the beauty court and was a member of the South Terrebonne Gatorettes dance team, the Swingers. Roxanne attended Nicholls, where she served as President of her sorority, Sigma, Sigma, Sigma. She was a member of the Nicholl’s dance team, the Acadian Coquettes. She was also a participant in the 1970 Miss Houma Beauty Pageant

Roxanne worked at Terrebonne General in Data Processing, before moving to Atlanta, GA with her husband and son in 1987.

Living in Atlanta for 28 years, Roxanne and her husband, along with other Louisiana natives, formed the Louisiana Club of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church. They helped other migrating Cajuns to find housing and jobs in Georgia. The Club also formed the Krewe of Saints to raise money for church charities, with parades and Mardi Gras Tableaus. Roxanne served as President of the Club and was also Queen of the Krewe of Saints in 2002. Roxanne retired from ASHRAE as an IT Systems Analyst and moved back to Houma with her family in Feb, 2016.

The family would like to thank Dr. Scott Haydel, Dr. Andrea Lorio, Dr. Gregory Maidoh, Dr. Ralph Bourgeous, Dr. Eric Rau, and the nursing staff at TGMC CCU for their care and compassion towards Roxanne and her family.
