Ronald Cooper

September 10, 1945 — July 22, 2022

On Friday, July 22, 2022, Ronald “Ronnie” Charles Cooper passed away peacefully in Houma, LA after a long and brave battle with cancer. He was 76 years old.

Ronnie was known by many as kind, warm, hard-working, positive, and generous, and always knew someone wherever he went. He worked as a barber for 56 years, many of which were spent at Barry’s Hair Design Studio in Houma, LA. In his spare time, Ronnie enjoyed playing tennis with his family, creating beautiful and timeless woodworking pieces, remodeling and updating houses, mastering dishes on the grill, and attending church at Annunziata Catholic Church. Ronnie’s faith allowed him to battle cancer with hope and strength for almost two years, and it is this strong, unwavering, dedicated faith that will remain in the hearts and souls of his loved ones here on Earth. We are at peace knowing Ronnie is reunited with his family that has passed before him and is now with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

Ronnie is survived by his wife of 57 years, Phyllis Cooper; their children Rhonda Cooper Gros (Robert), Gwen Cooper Ferguson; grandchildren, Claire Duplantis (Jacob) and Colten Ferguson, Benjamin Gros, Christina Gros, Anna-Kathryn Gros; brothers, Philip Cooper; Patrick Cooper (Liz), Barry Cooper (Claudia); sister, Cheryl Cooper Zomber (Peter); and survived by numerous loving nieces and nephews.

Ronnie is preceded in his passing by his parents, Henry and Hazel Gravois Cooper; brother, Henry Cooper Jr.; sister-in-law, Shirlene Cooper; god-child, Caroline Cooper.

A visitation will be held for Ronnie’s many family and friends on Saturday, July 30, 2022 at Annuziata Catholic Church in Houma, LA from 9:30am until service time. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow visitation on Saturday, July 30, 2022 at Annuziata Church at 12:00pm/Noon.  Burial will follow in Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary Catholic Church Cemetery in Houma, LA.
