Roland Theriot

Roland Theriot, 82, a lifelong resident of Theriot, LA, passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 12, 2023.

Family and friends of the family are invited to a visitation in his honor on Monday, October 16, 2023, at Chauvin Funeral Home from 11:30 a.m. until service time at 12:00 p.m. Burial will immediately follow at St. Eloi Cemetery.

Roland is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Maxine Theriot; daughters, Rhonda Robertson (Dale) and Denice Arceneaux (Lee); son, Jason Theriot (Alison); his many beautiful grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren; and three siblings.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Emelien and Genevieve Theriot; and several siblings.

Roland, a proud oyster farmer, dedicated his life to the commercial fishing industry. Roland enjoyed his time outdoors, as he found joy in watching his birds, cutting grass, collecting antique tractors, and exploring the tranquil countryside on his faithful mule. His favorite pastime, however, was fishing, which brought him immense happiness and a sense of peace.

Beyond his passion for nature, Roland was a man who easily lit up any room he entered with his infectious laughter and playful spirit. No matter the challenges he faced, he always managed to find the silver lining and spread joy to those around him. His positive outlook on life touched the hearts of all who knew him, making even the most difficult days seem brighter.

As we gather to say our final goodbyes to a loving man, let us remember Roland for his zest for life, his unwavering love for his family, and the joy he brought to all who crossed his path. Although he may no longer be with us in person, his spirit will forever live on in our hearts.
