Robert John Naquin Sr.

March 15, 1940 — October 25, 2022

Robert “Capt. Pic” John Naquin, Sr., 82, a native of Montegut and resident of Houma, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Tuesday, October 25, 2022.

He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Diana Authement Naquin; sons, Robert Naquin, Jr. (Leonora), Paul Naquin (Mimi), and Corey Naquin (Angela); daughters, Nancy Cole (Terry) and Lynelle Marse (Steven); brothers, Roland Naquin, Richard Naquin Sr., Ray Naquin Sr., and Francis Naquin Jr.; sisters, Anne Smith, Esea Hazel Bergeron, Yvonne Bergeron, Helen Duplantis, and Betty Naquin; 21 adoring grandchildren, Bethany, Jessica, Robert III, Caleb (Dina), Amanda, Victoria, Emily, Jordan, Sarah, Ryle, Paul Jr., Graham (Mykah), William, Elisabeth, Gabriella, Olivia, Matthew, Jacob, Joshua, Gavin, and Zachariah; and 1 awesome great-grandson, Shepherd.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Francis Edwin Naquin, Sr. and Hilda Chaisson Naquin; granddaughter Kristin Noelle Cole; and sisters, Florence Hotard and Karen Naquin.

Capt. Pic worked for LeBeouf Bros. Towing for 55 years. Starting as a deckhand with no knowledge of the industry at age 16 on November 4, 1956, he eventually worked his way to captain of one of their largest towboats at the time, the Creole Belle. He transitioned to Personnel Manager in November 1977 and served in that capacity until his retirement in June 2011. In February 2011, the company named one of their towboats the Capt. Pic Naquin, an honor that blessed him tremendously.

Robert was a member of First Baptist Church of Houma where he served in many positions over the years. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends, especially hosting seafood boils until his health prevented him from continuing. One of his greatest joys was spoiling his grandchildren whom he loved dearly and for whom he prayed fervently. He was greatly loved and will be missed by many.

The Naquin family would like to thank Dr. Gregory Maidoh and his staff at Fresenius Kidney Care for the years of care and also Heart of Hospice, especially nurses Brittney and Leslie, for their care in his final days.

Family and friends of the family are invited to attend a visitation at Covenant Church of Houma on Tuesday, November 1, 2022, from 9:00am until service time.  Ministry services will follow visitation at Covenant Church at 12 Noon with burial following the conclusion of services in Garden of Memories Cemetery in Gray, LA.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you consider a donation to the Gideons International or Covenant Church, Houma, LA.
