Robert George “Moose” Leonard, age 60 passed away surrounded by his loving family on Sunday, November 19, 2017 at 10:34 pm after a long battle with pancreatic cancer. He was a native of Thibodaux and a resident of Houma. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the visitation at Chauvin Funeral Home, Inc. on Friday, November 24, 2017 from 5:00 pm until 9:00 pm and Saturday, November 25, 2017 from 8:00 am until 10:30 am. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Gregory Barbarigo Catholic Church at 11:00 am. Burial will be held in St. Francis de Sales Cemetery #2. Robert is survived by his wife of 35 years, Tansey Hebert Leonard; sons, Dustin L. Leonard, and Ross M. Leonard and wife, Kristie; daughter, Jade L. LeBlanc; mother, Olive Folse Leonard; brothers, Clifford Leonard, Jr. and wife, Geraldine, and Donald Leonard and wife, Mary; sisters, Janice L. Leeper, Sheila L. Hebert, and Dorothy "Dottie" Derbes and husband, Donald; grandchildren, Tanner and Libby LeBlanc, and on the way Isabelle Rose Leonard. Robert is preceded in death by his father, Clifford Leonard, Sr.; in-laws, Henry Jr. and Nelda Duplantis Hebert; brother-in-laws, Lemuel Hebert, and Donald “Ace” Hebert; sister-in-laws, Melissa H. Howard and Cassandra H. Young; nephew, Stephen Hebert. Robert was a member of the Maison de Chein yearly fishing rodeo. He was an avid LSU and Saints fan. He enjoy fishing, hunting and building metal works. Most of all spending time with his grandchildren and family. He was charitable to those in need. He loved his country and was a true patriot. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him. Special thanks to M.D. Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, Tx., Dr. Gauri Varadhachary, Dr. David Rau and his nurse Lisa Curlin, Dr. Gerado Arias and nurse Juli at Thibodaux Regional Cancer Center, and Chemo nurses Paula and Tammy, Dr. Ray Cinnater for all your care and support, and all family and friends that have reached out to help us for 3 years while he battled stage IV pancreatic cancer.
