Robert Hill

Robert Joseph Hill, 88, passed away Friday, June 22, 2018 at 6:15PM. He was a native of New Orleans, LA and resident of Houma, LA.

Family and friends of the family are invited to attend visitation on Tuesday, June 26, 2018 from 9:00AM until service time at St. Bridget Catholic Church. A Mass of Christian Burial will begin on Tuesday at 11:00AM with burial to follow in St. Bridget Church Cemetery.

Robert is survived by his Sons, Wesley James Hill and wife Donna and Timothy Jon Hill and wife Tori; Daughters, Lisa Kateri Bennett and husband Thomas, Mary Ellen Charpentier and husband Mark, Laura Watson and husband Peter, Sally Ann Brinser and husband Steve; Sister, Gay Ann Hill Crochet ; eighteen Grandchildren, and fifteen Great Grandchildren.

Robert is preceded in death by his Wife, Lois Marie Eschete Hill; Parents, Joseph George Hill and Irma Leblanc Hill; Brother, Joseph George Hill, Jr. and one grandson.

As a young man, Robert served his country for several years in the US Naval Reserve. Later on, Robert, fondly called “Bob”, was a parishioner and active member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Houma and more recently St. Bridget Catholic Church in Schriever for many years. He served as a lector, head of the parish finance committee, as well as a K.C. member. He also served as a member of the St. Vincent de Paul Society.

At one time, Bob belonged to a carnival crew and a hunting club. Robert loved airplanes and was always in awe of the mystery of flight. He was a music lover and owned his own bongo drums and maracas. Bob liked gardening a lot and grew roses to give to his wife. Birdwatching was fascinating to him and he loved to get into a good book.

Bob was a romantic and as dedicated a husband, and honorable a man, as you will ever find, revolving his life around his “bride”, his family, and his faith. He will be dearly missed by the many who loved him.
