Richard Holden Chancey Sr., 70. Our beloved Spouse, Father, and Son passed away on February 2, 2024.
Richard is survived by his loving wife of 48 years; Sheila Bynum Chancey; his children Richard Chancey Jr. and wife Rochelle, Shanna Chancey Champagne-Berry and husband Scott, Sherry Chancey and Derrick Chancey. He is also survived by siblings; brothers Thomas Chancey Jr.; Micheal Chancey and wife Shannon and sister Lynda Acton; grandchildren Holden Chancey, Kaylee Champagne, Cullen Champagne, Alyssa Chancey, Timmy Crochet, Autumn Foret, Bella Berry, Tatum Foret and a host of nieces and nephews.
Ricky was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Joyce Chancey, brother Mitchell Chancey, and nephews William "Billy" Acton and Saul Chancey.
Richard or Big Ricky as he was affectionately known was an entrepreneur, focusing his efforts on communications. He, along with his wife Sheila, ran a business with both his father Thomas and his son Ricky for many years. He was loving and kind, dedicating most of his life caring for his wife Sheila. Ricky loved spending time with his brothers, nephews and friends on golf courses all over South Louisiana.
He thoroughly enjoyed sharing a meal with family especially the grandchildren. You could often find him in front of the TV watching Golf or his Beloved Saints. Ricky had a silly nature, he quipped special nicknames for all of his children. He wasn't able to have a typical phone conversation because he was hard of hearing, but he was always sure to yell "LOVE YOU" if you were on the phone with anyone in the house. His absence will leave a hole in our family that will never be filled.
The family will celebrate his life privately and ask that you remember him in prayer. We would be remiss if we didn't take this opportunity to remind you to call your parents and tell them how much you love them.
