Peter “Pete” Fonseca, age 61 passed away on Monday, October 30, 2017 surrounded by his loving family. He was a longtime resident of Houma. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the visitation in the Chapel Dauphine at Chauvin Funeral Home on Friday, November 3, 2017 beginning at 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. Visitation will resume on Saturday, beginning at 9:00 a.m. until the Celebration of Life Service at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow in St. Francis Cemetery no. 2 Pete is survived by his wife of 37 years, Donna Babin Fonseca; brothers, David and wife Dina Fonseca and Philip Fonseca; sister, Wendy Fonseca; nieces and nephews, Bambi LeBoeuf, Sarah LeBoeuf, Sheila (Bryan) Boudreaux, Richard (Dorall) Fonseca, Lou Lou LaCoste (Godchild), Jason (Charlotte) Muntz, Christopher (Godchild) and wife Jessica Landry, Jessica Chatagnier, Angie (Pat) Trahan, Brian (Mistie) Fonseca, Adam (Sarah) Fonseca, Scott (Brandy) Fonseca, Holly Fonseca, Carlo Fonseca, Alex Fuchs, Layla Fonseca (Godchild); thirty-two great-nieces and nephews, and twenty great-great nieces and nephews; Pete is also survived by his beloved pets, White Girl, Sky, Mo-Mo, and Boo Boo Kitty, Parrot Rumples. Pete is preceded in death by his parents, Sergen and Elvia Robotham Fonseca; brother, Mark Fonseca; sister, Elvia Mary Fonseca Landry; father and mother-in-law, Irvin and Cecile Babin and beloved cat Oodles. Pete was a free-spirited man with a good heart. Pete met the love of his life Donna and married in 1980, they had a beautiful and loving journey together till the end. They enjoyed fishing and spending time on the beach. He enjoyed tending to his tomato garden and listening to music. Pete was an awesome uncle and Godfather to many of his nieces and nephews. Pete had a big heart for animals, he would care and feed them when they had no place to live. Pete was a Master Carpenter and Marine Carpenter, he worked in Amelia and helped build Yachts and Casino’s. Anyone who knew Pete, knew he was a perfectionist. He and Donna were parrot groomers over twenty years. Pete had a compassionate heart, he made many friendships along his journey. He had a contagious smile and would light up a room with his presence. Pete also loved to fish, he had sailed on the quiet waters where there is no more pain and no more tears. He will always look down on his family with a smile remembering the beautiful life he had and the legacy he left behind. Chauvin Funeral Home is honored to serve the Fonseca Family.
