Pauline Martin

January 22, 1929 — June 19, 2021

 Pauline ‘Polly” Broussard Martin, age 92, peacefully transitioned to her eternal Heavenly Home, Saturday, June 19, 2021.

 Visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 22, 2021, from 12:00 p.m. until a “Celebration of Her Life” funeral service at 2:00 p.m. at Mulberry Baptist Church. Burial will be at the Terrebonne Memorial Park Mausoleum.

 She is survived by her daughter, Karen and her husband, Alan M. Weems, M.D.; her sons, A. Daniel, III, PhD, PT and his wife, Amy, David Louis and his wife, Connie; and two grandchildren, John Weems, and Katherine Weems.

 She is survived also by her sister, Mary Lou and her husband, Emery Cunningham, and many beloved nieces and nephews.

 She was preceded in death by her husband, A.D. “Danny” Martin, Jr., April 2015; her parents, Louis and Ina Broussard; and five brothers, Dallas, Louis, Hugh, Sidney, and Albert Broussard.

Polly received a Bachelor's degree from Louisiana College and a Master's degree from Nicholls State University.

She taught in the Terrebonne Parish School System for 24 years- most of the time at Terrebonne High School where she taught English and “The Bible as Literature,” and supervised English intern student teachers from Nicholls State University.

For over 30 years, she taught adult Bible classes at First Baptist church and at Mulberry Baptist church.

She was the author of four books:  Sunrise on the Bayou (2001); and the second edition, Anatole's Story (2004);  A memoir, Faith is a Journey (2010); My Journal, not published; and her most recent book, A Glimpse of Divinity--
Science and God (2017).

 She Served two terms as President of the Terrebonne Literary Club. “However, the most precious times in my life, she wrote, “Were spent with my beloved family, the pride and joy and beautiful treasure of my life.”
