Paul Dubois

August 18, 1928 — January 9, 2018

Paul Joseph Dubois, a native and resident of Houma, died on Tuesday, January 9, 2018 at 3:18 AM.  He was 89 years old.

Visitation will be held on Friday, January 12, 2018 at St. Francis de Sales Cathedral from 8:30 AM until service time.  Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 AM with burial to follow at St. Francis Cemetery #2.

Paul is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 66 years, Theresa Freeman Dubois; his daughters, Carolyn Ann Dubois and Gwendolyn D. Cenac along with her husband Dr. William Andre’ Cenac.  His grandchildren include Andrea Olden Rhodes, Christian Paul Olden, William Andre’ Cenac II, Robert John-Pierre Cenac along with his wife Lacie Robichaux Cenac, and James Philip Cenac.  His great-grandchildren include Adrianna Noel Rhodes and Kai Logan Rhodes and Robert and Lacie’s child that is due in April.

Paul was preceded in death by his parents, Adam and Emilie Trahan Dubois, brothers; Davis, Louis, Leroy and Walter Dubois, and sisters, Marie Breaux, Elda Falgout, Aline Duplantis, Marceline Bergeron and Theresa Authement.

Paul was a good and decent man who loved his Lord and church and was sincerely devoted to his family and friends.  He was a perfectionist in every way. He was particularly proud of his love of math and often shared a story about his legendary success in his Geometry class of 1947.  In his professional life, he worked for Texaco and retired after 39 years of service.  He was a parishioner at St. Francis de Sales Church, a member of the St. Gregory Knights of Columbus and served in the United States Air Force.  Paul loved to cook and his family and friends enjoyed the benefits of his passion, especially his treasured oyster gumbo that was served on Christmas Eve each year.  He was proud of his parents for instilling in him a strong sense of integrity, hard work, responsibility and compassion for his fellow man.  These attributes guided him all of his life.

Chauvin Funeral Home is honored to serve the Dubois family.
