Patricia (Pat) Everett Usie, 79, passed peacefully on October 10th, 2017 after a valiant fight with cancer. Visitation will be 9 a.m. until service time Saturday October 21st, at St. Bernadette Soubirous Catholic Church. A Funeral Mass will be at 11:00 a.m. at the church, with burial in St. Francis de Sales II. Patricia was born on May 5th, 1938 in Jersey City, NJ to the late Raymond and Mary Nazzaro Everett. The oldest of 5 siblings, Patricia met her future husband, Ray J. Usie at a US Navy dance in Bayonne, NJ. After marriage, they relocated to Louisiana in 1962 and made Houma, La. their home. Patricia enjoyed all things Louisiana, including cheering for the New Orleans Saints, LSU Tigers, and Houma Mardi Gras. Patricia was an employee of the original Ma Bell Phone Systems in New York City, and later retired from Lisa Park Elementary School in Houma, La. She was a member of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority of Houma and The Krewe of Hyacinthians for 17 years. Patricia is survived by her three beloved children, Kenneth Usie and wife Ashley, Scott Usie, Dana Usie Cooke and husband Steven Cooke, and daughter-in-law, Debbie Usie. Patricia’s surviving siblings include Linda Greger and husband John, Barbara Jarowoi, Dolores (Dee) Falcone and husband Angelo, and brother Ray Everett and wife Carmella. Patricia was the ultimate big sister and remained extremely close to her three younger sisters, despite long distance. Patricia is survived by three grandsons, Bryson Usie, Joshua Usie, and Connor Cooke; and her great-grandson, Eli Scott Usie. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you make a donation to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital in Pat’s name. Special thanks to caregivers Lori Vedos Phipps, Aimee Levron Fonseca, and Lakeside Hospice (Terry, Maria, and Martha). Pat always had a smile on her face; she enjoyed word search puzzles and QVC. Our loss is immeasurable, but so is the love she left behind. In memoriam, Pat requests everyone wear purple, her favorite color. Chauvin Funeral Home is honored to serve the Usie family.
