Patty was fun, loving, caring, giving, and spiritual woman who loved and served her Lord. Patty was an Alumna of St. Francis de Sales school and received a BA degree in elementary education from Nicholls State University. She taught kindergarten at St. Francis de Sales and St. Gregory Schools. However, thirty years of teaching kindergarten was at her beloved Grand Caillou Elementary School. “Miss Patty” touched the lives of thousands of young people in Terrebonne Parish during her long career. She loved all of her students and had a special place for each of them in her heart.
Patty was a devout Catholic, parishioner of St. Francis de Sales Cathedral and served as Eucharist Minister for many years. She also helped to maintain the gardens around the church for some time.
Patty’s family was most important to her and so many of her nieces and nephews tagged her as their favorite “aunt!” She loved her home and yard, especially, her lovely butterfly garden. Butterflies were important to her because of their representation of transformation in God’s beautiful world. Patty enjoyed all the holidays including Mardi Gras. Going out with her many friends and classmates were so special to her.
The family would like to thank Patty’s faithful caregivers especially her brothers, Dr. Dicky and Dr. Bobby Haydel and sister, Peggy and husband John Estes. Also, her niece, Dawn Boudreaux and friends, Sharon Miller, and Joan Boudreaux.
