Nell Legendre

November 1, 1943 — November 7, 2018

Nell Talbot Legendre, a native of Franklin, LA, embarked on her journey to heaven on November 7, 2018, only six days following her 75th birthday.

A visitation will be held on Monday, November 12, 2018 from 9:00 a.m. at St. Francis de Sales Cathedral in Houma, LA. A mass to celebrate Nell’s life will take place at 11:00 a.m. with burial to follow in the church cemetery.

Whether she was Nell, Mrs. Nell, Aunt Nell or Momma to you, all who knew her felt her love, zest for life and sweet humor. Through her social work, she helped those in need. Through her nursery school Building Blocks, she nurtured hundreds of children who passed through its doors. Through her ministries as sister, wife, mother and grandmother, she inspired strength, caring and creativity in the souls luckily blessed to be born into her care. She truly had a smile that could brighten any day and she gave it freely. While the world's light grew dimmer with her exit, her influence on kindness and love for future generations is indelible.

She leaves behind her devoted children: Lisa Legendre Davies and husband, Dean; Benjamin Legendre, Jr. and wife, Lisa; Nicole Legendre Flanagan and husband, James; and Stephanie Legendre Pertuit and husband, Ross; as well as grandchildren Jake and Abby Davies; Zakary and Austin Courtney; Leighton, Claire and John Patrick Flanagan; and Lucas, Alex, Marcus and Samantha Pertuit. She also is loved by her brothers Claude and Billy Talbot and her sisters-at-heart Gwen Talbot and Dianna Constant, as well as several wonderful nieces, nephews and more. In addition, the whole Legendre family held a special place in her heart as she does in theirs. She will be greatly missed by her network of close friends who encouraged her deep love of life.

Nell is preceded in death by her parents, William and Claudia Talbot, brother, Richard Talbot, Sr. and her children’s father, Dr. Benjamin L. Legendre, Sr.

Chauvin Funeral Home Inc. is in charge of arrangements.
