Murphy DeHart

Murphy DeHart, age 96, passed away on Monday, March 8, 2021 at 11:14 p.m. He was a native of Theriot and a resident of Houma, LA.

Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the visitation at Chauvin Funeral Home, Inc. on Saturday, March 13, 2021 beginning at 9:00 a.m. until a Celebration of Life Service at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow in Terrebonne Memorial Park Cemetery.

Murphy is survived by his son, Murphy James DeHart and wife, Renate; daughter, Linda DeHart Pitre; grandchildren, Emery Roch Chauvin III, Matthew James DeHart and wife, Jami, and Brandon Thomas Pitre and wife, Rebecca; great-grandchildren, Kaeden Dean DeHart, Sarah Elizabeth and Rachel Anne Pitre; along with numerous nieces and nephews.

Murphy was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Ardene Ann Ortego DeHart; parents, Anderson and Aurelia LaCoste DeHart; brothers, Earl, Irvin, and Lovell DeHart; sisters, Hilda Champagne, Bessie LaCoste, and Lucide Naquin.

Murphy was a member of the St. Matthews Episcopal Church.  He was a loving husband, father and grandfather.  He served in the US Army from 1943 to 1946 during WWII. He was a self-employed painter.  He enjoyed gardening, spending time with family and friends, telling war stories and was an avid sports fan. He will be dearly missed by all whose hearts he touched.
