Michael Maier

A Celebration of Life service will be held on Friday, October 5, 2018 at 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm in the Magnolia Chapel of Chauvin Funeral Home in Houma, Louisiana for Michael Anthony Maier, age 53.

Mike passed away at Ochsner Medical Center in New Orleans peacefully on October 2, 2018.
Mike was born on May 7, 1965 to Doug and Sibyl Maier. He grew up in Houma, Louisiana, along with his 2 siblings, Michelle and Mark.

Mike is a 1983 graduate of Terrebonne High School and received an Associates Degree in Nursing from Nicholls State University. He worked in the Emergency Room at Terrebonne General Medical Center for five years.

Mike devoted the last 20 years of his life to his own concrete construction business.
On January 5, 2018 Mike married Katherine “Katie” Conditt. They were a match made in heaven......the perfect couple who loved each other completely. Mike and Katie are expecting their first child at the end of November......a girl. Her Daddy will always be her Angel.

Mike had a huge heart and showed tremendous respect, love and encouragement for all he came in contact. He will be missed dearly by all who knew him.

Mike is is survived by his wife, Katie; their unborn daughter ; mother, Sibyl Maier; siblings, Michelle Maier Siegel (Greg) and Mark Anthony Maier (Dylcia); and his in-laws, Butch and Cindy Frazier. Mike is also survived by his niece and nephews: Samantha Maier, Mark Anthony Maier, Matthew Maier and Michael Maier; and three brothers in law Hank Conditt, Coleman Frazier and Miller Frazier.

Mike is preceded in death by his father, Doug; grandparents Fay and Agatha Chauvin; and, ND and Teresa Maier.

The amazing love, support and prayers during his short battle with a rare and aggressive cancer (Signet Ring Cell Carcinoma) has been a true blessing to Katie and the entire family.
The family extends their heartfelt appreciation to all those who have prayed and made contact, and to the medical professionals at Terrebonne General Medical Center and Ochsner Medical Center in New Orleans. They, also, wish to thank specifically the incredible employees on the Oncology Floor and Palliative Care Team who worked tirelessly day and night to make sure he was cared for well.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a cancer research organization of your choosing.
