Michael "Mike" James Dion Sr., 74, born March 05, 1949, a native of Dulac, LA and resident of Houma, LA passed away Thursday, October 19, 2023.

Relatives and friends of the family are welcome to attend a visitation in Mikes honor on Wednesday, October 25, 2023, at Chauvin Funeral Home in the Magnolia Chapel starting at 9:30am until service time at 11am. A private burial is to follow at a later date. 

He is survived by his loving wife of 38 years, Marilyn Verrett; children, Echo Dion (Berkling), Toni Short (Christopher), Jonathan Dion, Michael Dion Jr. (Michelle) and Michelle Duplantis (Jonathan); 10 grandchildren: Nehemiah and Jeremiah Hills, Cymphoni, Cuavé, and Csolry Short, Meagan Duplantis, Talon and Demi Dion; 8 sisters, Lois Salinas, Adrial Boals, Ethel Haynes (Mark), Cherrel D. Parfait (Paul), Chawdhry Billiot, Caldrait Breaux (Donald) Maryal Dion-Mewheter (Thomas) and Fern Gautreaux (Lynn); 4 brothers Howard Dion, Nile Dion (Sarah), Clyde Dion (Carolyn) and Fabian Dion (Theresa); Several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and nephews, great-great nieces and nephews, great-great-great nieces, and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his twin brother, parents, William Thomas and Josephine Annie Dion; his grandparents, Paul and Victoria C. Dion; Victor and Victorine Solet; 2 brothers, Paul Dion (Mary) and Thomas Dion (Clara); sister, Joyce Parfait (Varnis); Aunt, Lilian Solet; and several nieces and nephews.

Mike will always hold a special place in the hearts of everyone who knew him. He was an avid shrimper and tugboat deckhand until getting hurt. Mike loved the outdoors whether it was fishing or fixing things. He also enjoyed spending time with his family along with staying busy with his grandchildren. Mike had a heart of gold and never met a stranger. He was kindhearted and would give you the shirt off his back. He was a proud Saints fan and always looked forward to watching football on Sundays. Mike was known for his cooking and never let anyone leave hungry. He will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him. 

He was proud member of the United Houma Nation tribe.
