Merle Guidry

Merle Rita Lapeyrouse Guidry, age 96, passed away surrounded by her loving family on Saturday, October 9, 2021. She was a native and resident of Montegut, LA.

Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the visitation at Chauvin Funeral Home on Wednesday, October 13, 2021, beginning at 9:00 a.m. until a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. with burial following in Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery.

Merle is survived by her daughters, Melanie G. (Donald) Normand, and Charlotte G. (Raynold Jr. "Rennie") Trosclair; grandchildren, Timothy P. (Penny) Normand, Dawn N. (Jacob "Mike") Adams, Angie N. (Lynn) Thibodaux, Christopher J. (Vicki) Normand, Amy N. (Cody) Lirette, Cody P. (Ali) Normand, Kirk D. (Michele') Trosclair, and Ken P. (Tracy) Trosclair; great-grandchildren, Kade (Jada), Koby, Kirstin, and Koy (Leah) Trosclair, Caleigh and Blaise Adams, Hunter and Morgan Thibodaux, Alaina (Zane), Allie, Adalyn, Grayson, and Emalyn Lirette, and Tanner and Sawyer Normand; great-great-grandchildren, Averi and Kolt Trosclair, Cassius Becnel, and one on the way.

Merle was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Paul "Raoul" Guidry; parents, Jean Pierre Junius Sr. and Jennie Bridget Lapeyrouse; one infant son and one infant daughter; sister, Shirley L. (Prentice Sr. "Sonny") Freeman; brother, Jean J. (Jane) Lapeyrouse Jr.

Merle was so loved and was such a character. Never a dull moment around her. She would say what she felt and stayed true to herself. PaPa and MaMa loved and spoiled their family beyond measures. She lived life by what she believed. She enjoyed playing cards, getting beautified, drinking old fashions and had a sweet tooth. To know her was to love her and she made her mark on everyone she knew. Life will not be the same without her. She was a lifelong parishioner of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and the Ladies Auxiliary.
