Mary Louise Besse

Mary Louise Daigle Besse, age 73 passed away surrounded by her loving family on Saturday, December 16, 2017 at 5:24 am. She was a native of Baton Rouge and a resident of Houma. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the visitation at Chauvin Funeral Home, Inc. on Tuesday, December 19, 2017 from 10:00 am until funeral service time 12:00 pm. Mary is survived by her husband of 51 years, William Michael Besse, Sr.; sons, William "Mickey" Besse, Jr. and wife, Yvette,  Joseph "Matthew" Besse and wife, Marjorie “Margie”,  John "Marty" Besse and fiancé’, Ivette Hung, and Shaun "Monte" Besse and wife, Alexandra "Alex"; daughter, Michele Besse Cunningham and husband, Jason; brothers, Wilbur "Joe" Daigle, Jr. and wife, Debra “Debbie”; sister, Ruth Lee and husband, Jack; 11 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews. Mary is preceded in death by her parents, Wilbur Joseph, Sr. and Patrona Howe Daigle; brothers, Harry "Bill" and Robert Wilburn. Mary retired from Nicholls State where she taught nursing for 27 years.  Many of the nurses who cared for her during her last days still remember her when she taught them as nursing students. Her life revolved around her family.  She enjoyed gardening, painting and capturing happy moments with her camera and making everyone feel special in some way.
