MARVIN VICTOR MARMANDE, SR., age 88, native of Bayou Dularge , died March 14th peacefully in his home at St. Michel Plantation. He was a loving father and husband, avid hunter and fishermen, successful business man who is the founder of M & L Industries and M & L Engine that just celebrated 65 years of business. Besides being a pioneer in business and in charitable organizations. He was a deeply spiritual man and devoted to his Catholic faith. He was a founder of many charitable organizations such as the Serra Club (which fosters vocations for the priesthood), a member of the Board of Directors for Catholic Social Services and served on the the New Orleans Archdiocesan Vocation Committee and was very active in his St. Eloi Parish as Lay Minister ,Finance Committee Chairman, and Drive Committee Chairman for building of St. Eloi Catholic Church and Rectory, He received the Papal Honor – Pro Ecclesia Et Pontific from Pope Paul VI. Archbishop Philip Hannan presented him with the Medal at Louis Cathedral.
He also served on the Audit Committee for Terrebonne Bank and the Compensation and Merging Committee for the Premier Bank Board and also Bank 1 Board in Baton Rouge. He was so accomplished yet he lived a life of service to God, his family, his community, his country and church.
He is survived by his wife, Loretta Young Marmande, two sons: Marvin Victor Marmande, Jr. (Valerie) of, Houma, La and Steven Young Marmande (Beckie) of St. Michel Plantation, Houma; five daughters: Mrs. Patricia Marmande Eddy (David) of Tampa, FL., Mrs. Michelle Marmande Morrison (Leland) of Baton Rouge, LA, Mrs Andree Marmande Soileau (Chad) of Ville Platte, LA., Mrs. E Renee Marmande Wydajewski ( Ken) of Bristow, VA., Ms. Collette Marmande Furuly, Houma, LA.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Dr. Marcellin Victor Marmande and Mrs. Marie Antoinette Toups Marmande, three sibling Virginia Marmande Lee Powers, Marian Marmande Doucet and Dr. William Augustus Marmande, and two surviving siblings, Patricia Marmande Trahan, and Burt Bernard Marmande.
He is survived by 22 grandchildren: Andrea E Koczela (Jack), Alicia Eddy, Lauren Eddy, Rachael Eddy, Celeste M Valluzzo (Michael), Ryan Marmande, Marie Marmande, Amelie Marmande, Lee Morrison (Tessa), Monique Morrison, Jacob Morrison (Caitlin), Aimee M Crawford (Christian), Brittany S Manuel (Jared), Chadwick Soileau, Victoria S Songy (Gene), Courtney Soileau, Austin Wydajewski, Brianna Wydajewski, Maria Furuly, Melinda Furuly, Janicke Furuly, Elizabeth Marmande and one deceased grandson, Marvin Victor Marmande III (Tre). He is also survived by 20 great grandchildren.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Mass of Christian Burial at St. Eloi Catholic Church, Theriot, LA on Saturday March 17th at noon with visitation before starting at 10am. Visitation will be Friday March 16th from 5:00 – 8:00pm at St. Eloi Church, Theriot, LA.
