Mamis Picou

Mamis Josephine Dufresne Picou, age 82, passed away surrounded by her loving family on Saturday, September 4, 2021. She was a native of Chauvin and a resident of Houma, LA.

Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the visitation at Chauvin Funeral Home, Inc. on Tuesday, September 14, 2021, beginning at 9:00 a.m. until a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. with burial following in St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church.

Mamis is survived by her son, Craig Anthony Dufresne; daughter, Cynthia D. Dupre and husband, Rodney; brother, Dudley Eschete; sister, Drusella E. Duplantis; daughter-in-law, Anne F. Dufresne; grandchildren, Chase M. Dupre and wife, Mallory, Courtney R. Dupre, Madison A. Dupre and Fiancé, Kayla Williams; great-grandchildren, Isaac H. Dupre, Grayson T. Voisin, Roman M. Dupre, and Iris L. Dupre; 5 stepchildren; and numerous step grandchildren and step great-grandchildren.

Mamis is preceded in death by her 1^st husband of 37 years, Roland Joseph Dufresne, 2^nd husband of 10 years, Ray Joseph Picou, and companion of 14 years, Philip Cunningham; parents, Henry Joseph and Hazel Mary Hebert Eschete; son, Timothy "Timmy” P. Dufresne; daughter, Roxanne Marie Dufresne; brother, Dallas Eschete; and sister, Ida E. Scott.

Mamis was a parishioner of Maria Immaculata Catholic Church.  She enjoyed gardening, dancing, cooking, and spending time with family and friends. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were her pride and joy. She will be dearly missed by all whose hearts she touched.
