Malcom “Mac” John Lyons, age 71, passed away Tuesday September 14, 2021. He was a native of Chauvin and resident of Plaquemine.
Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the visitation at Chauvin Funeral Home Thursday September 23, 2021 from 9:00 AM until service time at 11:00 AM. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery.
Mac is survived by his wife of 52 years, Sadie Marie Dugas Lyons; children, Rechal L. Bergeron (Barry), Jeromy “JP” Lyons (Stacy), Christina Lyons (Sherry); former daughter-in-laws, Brandie Ranes Lyons, Katrina Stroyer Lyons; eleven grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; two step great-grandchildren; brothers, Paul Lyons (Irene), Julius Lyons; sisters, Felicia “Fee” Lirette (Wilton), Vera L. Picou; sister-in-law, Joann D. Lyons.
Mac is preceded in death by his son, Troy A. Lyons; parents, Paola Lyons, Sr. and Ezilda Charpentier Lyons; brothers, Paola Lyons, Jr. (Mamie), Richard Lyons, Sr. (Judy), Berton Lyons; twin, Michael Lyons, Sr., sisters, Della L. Lapeyrouse (Walter), Wilda “Teetsie” Leboeuf (Willis “Bay”); sister-in-law, Mary Lee Lyons; brother-in-law, Errol Picou.
Mac was a parishioner of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Chauvin. He was owner and operator of Roddy & Toddy Boat Rental for 27 years, leased to Texaco, captain for Delta Towing, tugboat captain for D&L Salvage, and captain for Reeves Boat Rentals. He was a past member of the Chauvin Knights of Columbus, past president and member of the Ward 7 Citizens Club, co-founder of the Chauvin Lions Club, and past member of the Weekend Cruisers Car Club. Mac loved spending time on the water, hunting, fishing, crabbing, frogging, and any reason to be with family and friends. Gathering together was his favorite past time. He was loved by many and will be missed by all.
