Maedora “Mae” Mohana

Mae Mohana, age 102, passed away peacefully on Monday, January 4, 2021. Mae was a longtime resident of Houma.

Mae is survived by her daughter, Jean Giglio and husband Charles; son, Louis Mohana, Jr. and wife Jennifer; grandchildren, Celeste Giglio Collins, Christopher Giglio, Victoria Giglio, Tricia Mohana Summers, Joseph Mohana, Anne Mohana Watson, Katharine Mohana; and nine great-grandchildren.  

Mae was preceded in death by her husband Louis Mohana, Sr.; parents, Leo Paul Trahan and Ourianna Labit Trahan. Mae was also preceded in death by her seven siblings.

Mae was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She had a special admiration for live music and dancing. She took great pride in her holiday decorations and her flower garden. She was a world traveler. In her words, “she was very lucky and had a good life.”

The family would like to thank Haydel Hospice, the Homestead nurses and administrative staff, and her loving caregivers.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
