Lynn Allen, 75, a native of Houma, Louisiana, and longtime resident of Marietta, Georgia, passed away peacefully at the family home in Houma, Louisiana, on Thanksgiving Day, November 28, 2024.
Lynn was born in Columbus, OH, on April 10, 1949, to the late Robert Bruce Allen and Frances McDonald Allen of Washington C.H., Ohio. She was a 1967 graduate of Terrebonne High School, a 1971 graduate of Louisiana State University (B.S. Education), and received a Master of Education in 1973 from Georgia State University.
She was married to the love of her life, the late John F. Williams of Fayetteville, GA, on July 22, 2000, in Gatlinburg, TN.
She spent 30 years teaching 2nd and 3rd grade at Collier Heights Elementary in Atlanta, GA, retiring in 2001. She missed teaching so much she returned to Cobb County Schools in Marietta, GA as a substitute teacher for 12 years. She enjoyed her teaching career immensely.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Johnny Williams in 2019; by her parents, Bob and Fran Allen; her grandparents; and special cousins.
She is survived by two brothers, Timothy John Allen (Vickie) of Houma, and Robert Bruce Allen, Jr. (and family) of Richardson, TX; nephew and godchild, Jacob R. Allen (Emilie) of Schriever, LA; niece, Chelsea Lynn Allen Reynolds (Seth) of Baton Rouge; great nephews, Clint and Miles Allen; sister-in-law, Sheryl Williams; special aunts, Ann Rask of Breckenridge, CO; and Mary Meadows of Paoli, IN; special cousin, Mindy Sparkman; godchild, David Rask; numerous cousins; and adored family members, along with two lifelong friends, Rickie and Carol.
A Memorial Mass will be celebrated in Washington Court House, Ohio at St. Coleman of Cloyne Catholic Church at a later date, along with a celebration of life picnic and pizza party in Ohio.
Lynn was a parishioner of St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church in Smyrna, GA, for over 27 years. She loved teaching children, reading, music of all kinds, family reunions, and traveling to the Smokey Mountains and Ft. Walton Beach, FL, with her beloved husband, Johnny.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Toys for Tots.
