Leward Joseph Boquet

Leward Joseph Boquet, 90, passed away surrounded by his wife and loving family on Saturday, December 26, 2020 at 8:50AM.  Leward “Pookie” Boquet was a native and life long resident of Bourg, LA.

Family and friends are invited to a Mass of Christian Burial on Wednesday, December 30, 2020 at St. Ann Catholic Church in Bourg, LA at 11:00AM. Burial will follow Mass in the church cemetery.

Leward is survived by his loving wife of sixty-seven years, Margaret “Peggy” Bascle Boquet; son, Patrick Boquet and wife Elizabeth; daughters, Pamela Boquet and husband Wills, Penny Dupre, and Paula Neil and husband Jesse; grandchildren, Eric, Christian and Betsy Boquet, Scott Boquet and Brittany Whitfield, Justin and Tyler Neil; great grandchildren, Caine Foret, Caitlyn Boquet, Maddie, Brooke and Gracie Boquet, Morgan, Taylor and Adlyn Boquet, Walter Neil and Davis Whitfield, baby girl Neil on her way.

Leward is preceded in death by his parents, Cyril and Mae Hebert Boquet; sister, Beverly Boquet Theriot, and  great grandson, Hunter Sorensen.

Leward was an active Parishioner and served as an usher at St. Ann Catholic Church. He was also a member of the American Legion (Post 272), and a Charter Member of the Bourg Volunteer Fire Department and actively served the community for thirty-five years.

Leward served in the United States Navy. After serving in the U.S. Navy, he worked in the oil field industry.

Leward enjoyed fishing, gardening, cooking meals for family and friends, woodworking, and loved cutting grass and most of all, spending time with his family; whom he loved dearly.

The family would like to extend their gratitude to Haydel Memorial Hospice and Dr. Mark Walker for all their love and care given to Leward and family in their time of need.
