Dean Daigneault

March 20, 1927 — September 10, 2021

Dean R. Daigneault, age 94, passed away Friday September 10, 2021 surrounded by his loving family. He was a native and longtime resident of Houma, La.

Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the visitation St. Lucy Catholic Church Monday September 20, 2021 from 9:00 AM until 12:00 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 12:00 PM with burial to follow at Terrebonne Memorial Park.

Dean is survived by his children, Jerome Daigneault and wife Peggy, Andree Daigneault Boudreaux and husband Jerry, Deana Daigneault Bergeron and husband Matt; grandchildren, Ricky Daigneault, Keith Daigneault, Clair Daigneault Pepper, Trevor Daigneault, James Daigneault, Nicholas Daigneault, Michelle Boudreaux Foret, Matthew Bergeron, and Maggie Bergeron Callais; great-grandchildren, Drake, Ali, Hunter, Benton, Madison, Abigail, Alysse, and Brody; great-great-grandchild, Lily; brother, Herc Daigneault and wife Dot.

Dean is preceded in death by his loving wife, Marie Louise Haydel Daigneault; parents, Walter Daigneault and Rita Daigle Daigneault; son, Kenneth Daigneault; sister, Patricia “Pat” Cenac.

Dean was a great friend to all. He loved talking to people and telling stories of how life used to be. He strongly believed in service to our country and our community. Dean served on the Terrebonne Parish School Board, served as alderman for the City Council. He was the first Civil Defense Director for Terrebonne Parish under Sheriff Charlton Rozands. Dean was a Veteran of both World War II and the Korean Conflict. He was a member of the VFW and The American Legion. He received the Eugene J. Folse Veterans Memorial Award in 2019. He received the key to the city at his 90th birthday by parish president Gordy Dove. Dean was a graduate of University of Mississippi and retired his fifty plus year pharmacy career from Eckerd Drugs. He lived a life filled with faith and God, family, and service. He was always a country boy at heart and a loyal friend. He never met a stranger. He will be sadly missed by all his family and friends.

The family would like to thank his loyal, loving caregiver and family friend, Marie Pierre, who touched all of our lives immensely. They would also like to give a special thanks to his nurse and friend Holly Leonard, Mike and Bryan with Kindred Home Health Care. Special thanks to Dr. Scott Haydel, Dr. Matt Watkins, and Angie Phillips with Haydel Hospice for their love and support.
