June 20, 1984 — September 9, 2017

Katie Bergeron Savoie, age 33 passed away surrounded by her loving family on Saturday, September 9, 2017. She was a lifelong resident of Houma, LA. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the visitation at the Magnolia Chapel at Chauvin Funeral Home on Monday, September 11, 2017 beginning at 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. A Reflection Service will be held at 8:00 p.m. at which time friends and family are invited to reflect on Katie’s life. Visitation will resume on Tuesday at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Chauvin beginning at 9:00 a.m. until the Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. Katie will be laid to rest in St. Joseph Catholic Church Cemetery. Katie is survived by her husband, Brandon Savoie and children, Brynn and Braylon Savoie; parents, Keith and Natalie Trahan Bergeron; sister, Bridget Matherne and husband Andre’; nieces, Bria Jane Matherne (godchild), Kira Joan Matherne; maternal grandfather, Wilton “Buck” Trahan; Godchildren, Gage Anthony Trahan and Landon Aucoin; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. Katie is preceded in death by her maternal grandmother, Mary Jane LeBouef Trahan; paternal grandparents, Marilyn Brister Bergeron and Alfred Bergeron; uncle, Barry Trahan. Loving, caring, spiritual, selfless, beautiful, outgoing, inspirational, wife, mother, sister, daughter, aunt, friend, who loved her family and serving her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Katie was loved by everyone who knew her. She had a contagious smile that could light up a room. Katie never met anyone who did not become her friend. She had a way of making everyone feel special. She never tired of helping others, even in her sickest days. In her free time, Katie loved photography, fishing, arts and crafts, and having fun with her family and friends. Katie’s dream of living in New York became a reality for her this year, when she spent quality time exploring New York with her family and friends. When Katie met Brandon, she realized a lifelong dream of becoming a wife and mother. She cherished that role and was an outstanding partner to Brandon and role model for her children. She graduated from Nicholls State University with a Bachelor’s degree in Education. For ten years she taught in Terrebonne Parish School Board. She was awarded teacher of the year at West Park Elementary and Bourg Elementary School. She was loved by all her students during her ten years of teaching. She will be missed by all who knew her. Her spirit will live on through the lives she has touched. The family would like to thank Dr. Sandford, Dr. Moti, Dr. McGaw, Dr. Sheena Duplantis, Dr. Nick Rau, Dr. Maronge, Kristi Creppel Hebert, M.P., Noami Russo Henry, R.T., and her special friend and physician, Dr. D.P. Schwab, the staff at Sloan Kettering Hospital and Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center, Physician’s Surgery Center, Terrebonne General Medical Center, and Haydel Hospice for their continuous care throughout her hard-fought journey.
