Joseph "Joe" Boyd, Jr.

April 18, 1956 — May 16, 2020

Joseph “Joe” Boyd, Jr., age 64, passed away surrounded by his loving family on Saturday, May 16, 2020. He was a native of Zachary and a resident of Dulac. 

Joe is survived by his sisters, Jenni Burk and husband Jack, Cub Lanaux and husband Bobby, Janel Walker and husband Jamey, and Dana Simpson; brother-in-law, Mike Parker; numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, and a host of friends. He is also survived by his two precious dogs, Junior and Buster. 

Joe is preceded in death by his parents, Joseph C. and Mary Lou Boyd; sister, Karen Parker and nephew, Boyd Cobb.

Joe was a compassionate, caring man who loved and served the Lord. As a member of Clanton Chapel United Methodist Church in Dulac, he served as a lay leader encouraging others to grow in their faith. He was quick with a smile and never met a stranger. Joe loved helping people and was a champion of the underdog. In his leisure time, he enjoyed fishing, telling tall tales, and was always ready with a good joke. His laughter was infectious. Joe was a loving brother, uncle and friend who will be sorely missed by all who loved him.

A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, June 13, 2020 at 1:00 p.m. at the Clanton Chapel United Methodist Church in Dulac.

The family would like to thank Haydel Memorial Hospice for their excellent care and all those who helped care for Joe. Special thanks to his dear friend Lou Toney. 

Memorials may be given to the Clanton Chapel United Methodist Church Preschool Program or the charity of your choice.
