John Richard Motley passed away peacefully in his home Wednesday morning at the age of 75. A native of Brooklyn, Ohio and resident of Houma, Louisiana of over 30 years, Richard was a proud Buckeye alumnus and United States Airforce veteran. He spent his career in medicine, serving as Chief Perfusionist at Terrebonne General Medical Center before retirement. He lived a full life through his passions of medicine, music, wine and food, travel and of course his beloved alma mater, The Ohio State University.
He is survived by his wife, Jane Hitt Motley, four children, Tanis Starr (husband Tim), Ryan Motley, Taylor Motley, and Morgan Motley, three stepchildren, Jessica VanDerMark (husband Terry), Jacob Falgout (wife Hannah), and Erica Falgout, nine grandchildren, Brittany, Seth and partner Robert, Jessica, Kortnie, Wyatt, Raiden, Brice, Katie, and Hayden, three great grandchildren, and siblings William “Bob” Motley, David Motley, Evelyn “Joy” Larson, and Melissa “Missy” Baazaoui.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Marion and Norma Motley, siblings James “Jim” Motley, Cindy Motley, and Cheri Motley, and one grandchild, Brigette Rodrigue.
Family and friends of the family are invited to his Memorial Services, beginning Friday, June 18, 2021, at Chauvin Funeral Home from 9:30am until service time. A Liturgy of the Word will be held at 11:00am with services concluding after the Liturgy. The family request, in lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the ALS Association at als.org/donate.
