Jeannette "Miss Susie" Haydel

Jeannette Marie “Miss Susie” Chiasson Haydel, 88, of Schriever, LA, passed away on July 2nd in Houma, LA. She was born May 15, 1930 in Chackbay, LA to the late Noah Chiasson, and Myrtle Oncale Chiasson.

Miss Susie was a devout Catholic and a celebration of her life and burial service will take place at St. Bridget Catholic Church is Schriever on Thursday, July 5, 2018 from 9:30AM until service time. A Mass of Christian Burial will begin following visitation at 12:00PM. Burial will follow at St. Bridget Cemetery. Family and friends are invited to share memories and visit after services in St. Bridget’s Community Hall.

Miss Susie spent most of her life in Schriever. She was owner and operator of Haydel’s Grocery, a bank teller for Terrebonne Bank, and store manager for the Salvation Army in Thibodaux.

Her hobbies included homemaking, gardening, crossword puzzles, and watching Braves baseball.

She was a loving mother to 4 children: Stephen Haydel and wife Stephanie, Lori Chauvin and husband Doug, Lisa Neal and husband Jesse, David Haydel and wife Kim. She has 6 grandchildren, and 7 great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her husband John L Haydel, and 3 brothers: George, Russel, and Bob (Peter).

She is survived by 2 brothers: Roger, Donald, and sister Joyce Diana Trosclair.

The family would like to thank her extended family at The Oaks Care Center in Houma for helping care for her and making her comfortable the last few years.
