Jason Paul Lyons, 61, passed away Wednesday, May 11, 2022, at 1:28pm. He was a native of Pointe Aux Chene, LA and a resident of Gray, LA.
Family and friends of the family are invited to attend a vistiation and recitation of the Rosary at St. Louis Catholic Church on Friday, May 20, 2022 from 10:00AM until Mass of Christian Burial. Mass will follow at St. Louis Catholic Church at 11:00AM with inurnment/burial in the church cemetery.
Jason is survived by his wife, Vicky; his stepson, Troy Marcel; mother-in-law, Eula Mae Degruise; father-in-law, Linsley Degruise; and many sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, and nephews.
Jason is preceded in death by his loving parents; Mamie and Paola Lyons Jr.; his maternal grandparents, Elie Serville Brunet and Walterine Dupre Brunet; and his paternal grandparents, Paola Lyons Sr., and Ezilda Charpentier Lyons.
Jason showed a love of music at a young age and played in the South Terrebonne Band. After high school, he attended Nicholls State University where he earned his BA in Music Education and later returned to get his Masters. He was a band director at various schools over the years and retired after 33 years. Most of his time was spent at his alma mater, South Terrebonne High School. At STHS, his band accomplished many prestigious awards and trophies. He had a special way with his students, creating some of the most fascinating performances that led to many wins at festivals and competitions. When he wasn’t teaching music, he was playing his trombone. He played his trombone in the bands called South Avenue and Souled Out. He loved spending time with his family and fishing with his dad. He loved to ride his motorbike with his wife, Vicky, and participate in poker runs. He also enjoyed a good game of pool with his friends.
In lieu of flowers, the family would like for donations to be made to the American Cancer Society. The family would also like to thank the staff a Journey Hospice for all the support and guidance through this difficult time.
